When I became a brony in February 2012, there was 2 things I liked the most about MLP:FiM: the show’s realistic messages and the fandom. For once, there was a community where many were looking for WAPD (What A Pony Do) and try the best to apply what they learned. Newcomers were encouraged to post more artwork, music or video, even if they weren’t very good at it. We supported each other. It wasn’t a perfect fandom for sure but it was the best I ever saw and I wanted to be part of it even contribute to help strive and last.

I began to feel alive again. Heck I can even say it saved my life as I was going under severe depression and got some suicidal thoughts. The combination of the good show and the positive fandom gives me hope it would be part of more cultural changes, more positive outcomes. Maybe it was naive to think this now, but it was something I could hang on to brighten my dark days and give something to hope for. And all those friends I made along my brony days while I interacted on Twitter and the other social media is what breaks my solitude.

But the fandom today? So many fights, dramas, snober others within and out the fandom, too much of fascism and neo-Nazis even! I already got a foot out the fandom last year after Sibsy unleashed anger at me while my mother was between life and death in a hospital. Now I can’t watch an episode without remembering it. I can’t even watch the episodes with the twicane in it. “Slice of Life” is now painful to watch.

I tried to enjoy the movie last week. It got everything to be a success and a lot enjoyed it, but I didn’t. I smiled a few times at best. I no longer listen to brony music. I enjoyed them as part of the fandom and the show, with talented musicians. I don’t feel it anymore.

I no longer see myself in this fandom. This is not why I called myself a brony. So I no longer do. I no longer plan to create any panel at a convention as I don’t even consider going at any from now on. I will keep up all the videos I created in but I will make no more. I have no time for that anyway as I need to take cares of my family.

I will also keep this DeviantArt so I can post non-pony creations, interact with my friends and posts some of my thoughts and interests but no longer centered on ponies. The Bronies for Kindness accounts and web site will be either deleted or re-used for other personal projects. The StandingLeaf Tumblr and Twitter account will stay up, but they will be non-pony related from now on.

So this is it. I don’t have to run anymore.

So this is it. I don’t have to run anymore.

For those who follow me on my personal Twitter account, you might be aware that 2016 wasn’t very kind on me, as I got plenty of personal problems to take care of. Yet I was very motivated to create Bronies for Kindness and things was starting to settle just enough to get the time to create the Bronies for Kindness web site and social media accounts, thinking I will be able to keep it updated and launch new projects related the fandom’s initiatives to fight bullying and promote measures for better self-esteem.

Well, it seems I won’t have that luck. Some important and unavoidable personal issues got in the way from getting time to keep the Bronies for Kindness website, social media and projects updated. I still have enough time to make some changes on the web sites when it’s needed, but it’s far from keeping BfK alive and kicking.

Yet, there isn’t any better moment than now to have an initiative like Bronies for Kindness. Right now bullying, racism, misogyny, LGBTQ-bullying, cyber-bullying and other form of hate are rising rapidly, so a good show like My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, that displays great examples of acceptance and understanding in our society, is needed to bring examples of courage, mutual help, self-esteem and kindness and inspire everyone to make a positive change.

So, to make sure the project will not die before it even fully begin, I decided to split with several volunteers the resource needed to make Bronies for Kindness a great site. And that’s where you can play a role and make a difference. We need skilled people like you who can contribute with one or more of those abilities:

Event logistic (live streaming, moderator)

Conventions volunteer (table presence, cards distribution)

Charity projects manager (music album, special events organization)

Social media specialist (Twitter, Facebook, etc)

Graphic artist (Creation, modification of photos and graphics)

Video editor (promo videos for Youtube, Dailymotion)

Audio editor (assisting video editor, music album help)

Public relation and communication (artist collabs, show staff request, etc)

Chief management (overall supervision, planification)

Webmaster (web site changes, design)

If you are interested in helping Bronies for Kindness with any of those skills you can preferably fill out this form or contact me directly.

I will still remain as the main coordinator and the webmaster of the BfK site, as those functions are something I already do. I will also create a Discord group for all the volunteers and supporters where we can exchange ideas, proudly show your task’s progress and mostly to have fun together with friends sharing common a goal and dream.

More than ever, we need more kindness. It’s now time to demonstrate it.

All the sculptures you did are amazing! I hope to have enough money to commission something from you later. Meanwhile, I will keep a look at your latest creations. Is there commissions you didn't shown in your gallery?
